Synopsis
There’s not much to summarize, in this chapter. In verses 1–2 Sarah dies, at the ripe old age of 127.The rest of the chapter is spent on Abraham negotiating with the Hittites, to buy a place to bury her. Since he is “an alien and a stranger among [them]” (verse 4), he doesn’t have any land of his own, so he has to purchase some.
Thoughts
I don’t really have any thoughts on this chapter. Although I find the bargaining process interesting, I didn’t get any lessons out of it or anything.I can’t remember if this plot of land comes back into play in a later chapter or Genesis, or a later Old Testament book.
